Topic: Time for a new machine..any advice?

After the recent sale of the old 950p, I am now in the market for a new machine. It is used for mostly trenching and holes with plenty of dirt moving. Now my quandry is - K94-pro? or I have actually sussed out the viking loader.
Does anyone have any experience with the viking? Any comments on the K94? I have been told the wheel motors require regular work...

Re: Time for a new machine..any advice?

Mate, the Viking looks the goods and Mick at Qld Mini Diggers Gave me a quick go on it at the workshop, but they are all fantastic on a workshop floor, ask Andrew O'dea, I believe Mick gave it to him for a test drive for a day or two.
What I do like about the Viking is the layout for the filters and servicing requirements, very operator friendly, also the washable K&N air filter is a good idea.
I have a K9-4 pro and yes had the wheel motors were done under waranty, I have done over 1500hrs on this one and I know Mr O'dea has done over 3500 on his, but you would have to ask him for a list of issues over those hrs.   But the bugger goes hard, as in a previous post, Drive the thing like you hate it, and trust me I do, hate it that is, after ya spend two or three days solid on the ekky and then jump on the Dingo it makes me feel old and sore.

Craig

Re: Time for a new machine..any advice?

Minidiggerboy,

Viking has started production on its next batch at its Victorian facility. If you are in Vic you are more than welcome to come in and look at the production line and take a Viking for a test run. In terms of replacing your machine, it will depend on your budget and if you are indeed looking for a "New" machine or just a new machine for you (but a used item). Feedback on the Viking has been excellent but every person is different and unless you try it for yourself, you wont get a true feeling for it.
Wheel motors shouldnt be a big issue on the 94, if you do happen to have a problem - the job can be done easily in a day and it may be worth getting all motors looked at while its apart.

Re: Time for a new machine..any advice?

Thanks Marty, send me the details. I would like to see the machines actually in production and if your offering a free test..i'm there. I am currently weighing up my options to see if a brand new machine will be better value in the long run..Really depends on how much use i will get out of it.

Re: Time for a new machine..any advice?

Guys
It has started.  A rep from an opposition has infiltrated OUR system.  As I have said previously, I want to keep our Dingo Forum clean and positive.  You would think they should have more sense.   We want open and spirited conversations but opposition companies should take the opportunity to have their own Forum to promote their own products.
Obviously I have already removed “Marty” from commenting on our forum ever again.  I didn’t want to vet all applicants fully, because you have to have trust.  But you only trust once.
The Dingo Victoria branch has lots of experience - not with the Viking machine, because they haven’t sold any - but with the quality of the no-brand spares and attachments that Viking sell and their  lack of ability to service anything properly.  Viking’s attitude to anything long term is nil and ‘do it cheap’ is their motto.  A cheap service or two and then back to Dingo because the consequences of those services are starting to show.  We have the evidence.  We ‘lost’ a few customers to Viking, but they are coming back to us for quality service and care of their normally trouble free machines.
There is little that Dingo Australia can do to prevent a business not associated with us trading as ‘Dingo Attachments’, as they do.  They continue to find ways to our customers and have also tried to copy the K9-4.  If you look at the Viking with my eyes and knowledge, it is obviously bad.  Really bad!  If you are a complete novice, it probably has some attraction, especially price.  Just remember, they have no buying volume and no manufacturing base, so how can they be cheaper and have any quality components?
I probably don’t need to say any more.  Most reading this are already dedicated Dingo users.  Yes, at times we have had problems.  We are not perfect. But behind the DINGO name is my name, and I will not allow that to be tarnished.  We will always support our customers and strive for excellence.

Re: Time for a new machine..any advice?

I dont rush into things, I did my research and tested the K94, Toro, Boxer and Viking. After asking each of the companies reps many questions re performance, warranty, parts pricing and back up.. I made my decision. I must say I am a little dissapointed with garybriggs post. Not one of the "Rival" companies i approached had a bad word to say about any of the machines I was looking at..
I will post a pic of my new machine later today (pick up this morning)..  big_smile

Re: Time for a new machine..any advice?
