Topic: pouring cement

Hi Bunch,
Just another little thing that may help you in getting mixed cement poured into a hole while a pole/fence post is positioned. Every noticed what a pain it can be in getting the cement right in close to a corner/pole without a good portion of it falling onto the ground just short of where it should go because you are restricted by the angle of the bowl edge hitting the upright pole?
A Little contraption you can knock up. grab a small section of corrugated iron, and fold/cut and fashion it into a shoot type of arrangement. one end will have to have some sort of leg/bracket arrangement fixed on the high side,to help with the stuff sliding down it. You then pretty much direct where you want the stuff to go with a high degree of success. you can then move it to other positions etc to get the pour your looking for.
Large sections of PVC pipe cut down, will also do the trick.

Hamish,
You are talking about ORDINARY cement bowls from other companies.  With the Dingo bowl, you simply reverse the direction and it empties the cement out without tipping.

Re: pouring cement

Used the cement bowl today. Concretor mate was very impressed. Having the "auger" built in certainly helped with emtying the bowl, although I could see that Hamish's suggestion would be a great help to getting it into postholes.

After a few mixes, we worked out that 15 shovels of blend to 1 bag of 'crete was a good mix. The bowl handles this amount quite well. I wouldn't think that it wouldn't take much more. I also found that it's best mix speed was with the machine idling, and the most efficient position was with the crowd ram fully back, and the arms lifted slightly so that the mount plate face was vertical. To avoid the chance of "slopping" mix out of the bowl, I found it best to stop mixing whilst travelling. This allows you to increase the revs (and ground speed) for faster travel. Don't forget to back it off to idle before "pouring" though.
